What was the Roe v. Wade trial?

Roe v. Wade was the historic 1973 decision by the United States Supreme Court that recognized abortion as a constitutional right. To those to support abortion (traditionally labeled as the "liberal" or "pro-choice" side of the debate), this decision validated a "woman's right to choose"; meaning that abortion supporters believe that a woman should have control over whether or not to continue a pregnancy.

But over 30 years after the Roe v. Wade decision, it remains one of the most controversial decisions in Supreme Court history. Many who oppose abortion (traditionally labeled as "conservative" or "pro-life") are still actively hoping to see the Roe v. Wade decision overturned someday. To the pro-life movement, life begins at the moment of conception, and therefore abortion is tantamount to murder.
