Hyoid Bone

Located in the neck, the hyoid bone is isolated from all other bones. It is connected by ligaments to the styloid processes of the temporal bones. Muscles from the tongue, neck, pharynx, and larynx that attach to the hyoid bone contribute to the movements involved in swallowing and speech.
