Practice Projects
1. Keep a weekly log. At the end of each week of reading the text, each student writes down any questions, complaints, insights, or confusions; in short, anything at all they want to note about the story. These can be on index cards and can be anonymous or signed. The cards can then be used for either a class discussion or passed out to class groups for their own discussion.
2. A variation on the previous idea is to use e-mail lists or Web-site chat rooms for comments, thus allowing the discussion to flow freely anytime. Students can also discuss what other features and resources to include on a Web page.
